What is the USPTO?
The USPTO stands for the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
The USPTO is the federal agency for granting United States patents and for registering trademarks and copyrights. Collectively this field of patents and trademarks are known as Intellectual Property (IP). Additionally copyrights fall under IP but copyrights are registered at the United States Copyright Office at the Library of Congress.
The USPTO is headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia but has offices in:
